is there a big difference between the rear diff/viscous from the G60 and the Golf?
only the diameter of the 3 mounting lugs and the inertia damper on the donut.
Passat
Early Golf2
ok. so the diff itself is the same? that makes it possible for me to swap the rear axle asap. just to have done that
Yes, the diff is the same and you can swap the complete axle, you will need to change the complete Passat center diff mounting for the Golf one and the complete Golf side mountings (Both upper & lower) for the Passat ones, you will see why when you have them side by side.
damn, does this mean that i can’t use the bigger rollbar with ease? i need the centre mount from the golf?
or what part do you exactly mean?
As you can see from the drawings below the Passat & Golf side mountings are similar (the Passat rubber mounts are thicker & tougher) so to mount the Passat axle to your Golf you will need to exchange parts nr 2,3,4,5,&6 from the Passat (top drawing) onto your Golf
The centre mount is very different & you need to remove parts nr 8,9,10,11,12,14 & 15 from the Passat Diff & replace them with parts nr 8,9,10,11,12,13,14,&15 from the Golf.
The drawings should explain exactly what I mean.
meaning that i can’t just take everything from the rear and just mount it on the golf?… baaaah
Into each life a little rain must fall, but its not a difficult or long job to swap the brackets over []
thats true i’ll figure it out while i’m on it i guess :p
the front 280mm brakes are now on, and properly bled.. works great, eventho i havent changed the abs unit yet
and, one more thing, the front swaybar… direct fit on the golf? (ofcourse, i’ll use the passats bushes)
The front swaybar… direct fit on the golf? I seem to remember it fouled on the golf triangles, but it was about 5 or 6 years back so I can’t exactly remember if there was a way round it or not.
well, its not very many bolts, so, might as well try
would these ABS sensors fit the golf? since i’m going with the passats abs, i’m a luttle unsure of the sensors. the resistance in the sensors for the passat and golf is the same?
The front ABS senders have a built in resistor while the rears dont, I dont know exactly what difference this makes to the output if any!
The rears depend on your swing arm part number but
Marke OE- Nummer
Seat 191 927 807 D
VAG 191 927 807 D
357 927 807
Will not fit
Depending on your rear triangle nr you need either
191 927 807 or C
357 927 807A or B
These may fit, but I don’t know

damn hybrid **** :p .. what exactly (other then resistence) would be the difference in the rear?
was out testing the syncro a little today, runs great, no noises from the drivetrain after i changed the propshaft
so. all it needs now, is some blinkers, new bulbs for the headlights. new bonnet (the original one was dented badly, and the one i put on was even worse as the whole bonnet was twisted )
and a new track alignment, and sort out some minor exhaust leaks, then its all good to go to the EU-test. so i can get my plates i want to drive it around a bit before i convert the engine etc
most undercarrige bits will be cleaned and repainted
