so, now the rear subframe is down
took some pics of that dirty bastard
here it is without the diff
got very empty in there now
diff which is soaked on diesel, prepared to clean up the diff
so, which brings me to this, that little vacuum connector on the rear diff, what is this for? its besides the vacuum connector that goes to the engine compartment
Its a breather and should have a rubber pipe connected to it, the rubber breather pipe disappears into the wiring harness and is fitted to keep muck out of the vacuum unit.
okay, so i should put a few inches of vacuum-line to it then?
Yes, it would help to stop any muck getting in there.
slow day today, but, i have painted the the rear subframe with silver/gray .. don’t know why, but, why not ? it will be like 3 weeks on the road, and its all gone anyhow. but, makes it so much better to reassemble
been a few lazy days now. was going to actually do something today, but got a little hangover from yesterday :p
but, i’ll sure do some more progress tomorrow
i hate beeing sick
but, just for you entertainment, heres a picture of the freshly pinted rear subframe looks way better now
been out driving the golf today in the snow, damn its fun
but, a little too understeered. a friend of mine has a 91 jetta syncro, much more oversteered, and way easier to slide around in.
need to get the rear stiffend up i guess, and more power, 98bhp just isn’t enough
Fit the rear anti roll bar from the Passat Syncro, its a greater diameter & will reduce understeer.
that will be done with time as far as I know, the passat one does not fit directly over because of the brackets?. larger brackets on the passat one
The Passat one bolts right in, its the same as the Rallye bar, you are thinking of the Passat with the self levelling suspension, that bar is 25mm and does need new brackets
ah, okay then it goes on the golf asap
thanks chris
well, i’m no longer sick so things HAVE happend now
tha passat left the garage today, so the golf will get in tomorrow, and starting to tear the old 1P engine down
when that is gone, then its time for some cleaning, and converting to the O2C gearbox from the passat. with hydaulic clutch and wires from the shifter
should get good progress in the near future now, and i might even remember my camera for some pics, cause i know thats what you all like :p
it has begun got the syncro in the garage today started to tear it down
here is a somewhat crappy cellphone pic. didn’t remember my camera today
damn, just had a setback which i’m not sure on how i’m supposed to fix..
the ABS wiring comes from the passengerside on the golf, and from the driversside on the passat.. soooo… how do i fix this? anyone know?
