I have a chance to buy this……

Don’t know what it’s like underneath yet, apart from needing a good wash on the outside the inside is not too bad. Just looking for an idea what it’s worth before taking the plunge.
How long has it sat there & how much is the seller asking?
I think it has been there for over 6 years, I’ve been offered it for less than £500.
If it is complete? then at that price I think it has to be a good buy, there were only 600 made (or at least sold in the UK) & they aren’t making any more, obviously it is probably going to need a nearly complete mechanical rebuild, but there again what 20+ year old car isnt, in its advantage is that it is one of the last Golf 2s made so has all the updates & improvements!
Can you get the vin number for me please? then I can check it out for you
Yes it is complete Chris, it currently has a diesel engine in it, but a petrol carb engine comes with the car, along with 3 doors and a few other bits and pieces. I would like to put it back on the road as they are getting so rare now. but if it is too bad I may be forced to scrap it for parts. Looks like it’s a bargain either way.
Perhaps not a bargain, but it does look well worth buying, what diesel motor & gearbox are fitted?
The diesel engine he wants back it is missing the timing belt and fuel pump, it has the standard petrol syncro gearbox and running gear. I think it is a bargain Chris, its worth more in parts than the price i’m paying, but as I said I would much rather try and save it and put it back on the road.
