Trev16vI’ve been experiencing some problems using the forum last night and this morning.
Last night I attempted to post my new thread about the propshaft boots. When submitting the new post it just hung for a long time and eventually timed out; I had to wait some hours before the forum seemed to work again, and I was able to submit the post.
Then when replying to that same thread this morning I had a time out error and had to try again shortly after.

ld50yeah I’m not sure what’s causing that – i normally catch it when it starts slowing but I guess not every time…

I don’t know what an “asp database” is but as far as I can tell it’s the access database which the forum uses which causes the problem, more specifically the fact that there’s several access DBs all running concurrently across several sites. I’ve made some changes in terms of separating the various sites into separate application pools which might help but only time will tell for sure.

Easy to say, not so easy to do. I’m trying to work out how to convert this “snitz” forum (asp/access/iis/windows) to drupal (php/mysql/apache/linux) but it’s not a small task unless we want to bin all the posts and start over from scratch.
Most of the drupal system is *superb* and it’ll allow all sorts of other interactivity, easy uploading of photos etc but I don’t like some aspects of how the drupal forums work so am trying to sort those issues before I start the migration process.

ld50hmm dunno – the server ISP relocated on the 10th but we were up and running again at the new location by the morning of the 11th. I’ve been getting notifications the whole while…
it’s possible some addresses don’t receive forwarded emails – e.g. hotmail though why that might be is still a mystery to me.
