Hi Guys/Girls,
Well, I’m new here, so here’s my intro.
I’m Patrick van der Heijden 39yrs, Own a Golf Country since 2001 (German import) Lived in North Wales for about 3yrs Where I happened to buy a house from a postman who knew a person in the Next village who owned exactly the same Car as I did, how unbelievable I thought his story was, a few days later, My best friend with his own Country was parked in front of the house! Oke, a short trip on memory lane there.
I live in Bakhuizen now, a small village in the south western Corner of Friesland, The Netherlands, with my Girlfriend Tineke (who owns a Golf MkIII TDI) and my 2 dogs, Eddy the Greyhound and Keke the rescued Romanian street dog.
Have done some small mods on the Country, like raising it by another 4cm, some beefier tyres, and polyurethane bushings on all suspension parts which make the car handle better and performs very well off the beaten track.
Coming mods are a new Sachs Clutch and a GTI ECU with chip-tuning to deliver a bit more grunt to the already underpowered 72kw engine.
Made some repair/overhaul reports and pictures on rebuilding the front shock absorbers and strut springs (all of which parts are no longer available from VW or third party)
Have made a few sets of Rear Light grills for the Country, same shape although possibly not as sturdy as Kamei used to do them in the nineties.
Well, think thats it for now, nice to be part of the Syncro enthusiast family.
Patrick

Hi Dave, will post some picts soon, I first however need to sort out a problem with the delivery of the right materials from which I make the Grills. I used to make them of Copper/alloy Brake lines, hard soldered together, however, a new environmental law is in place that limits the sale and supply of these, so am experimenting with making them either in solid metal or Aluminium.
Will keep you posted.
I’d be interested in a set!
