I think that they are worth at least £2k and this one, if it is as good as you say and unmolested, is likely to be considerably more.

Thats about right for the price of a std Syncro, Country, G60Syncro & Rallye are of course worth more, although it is still possible to find a tatty or laid up car with no MOT for less.
OillineWell ive gone and done it. Paid £2500 for it. A little over the odds maybe? But it does appear to be in fantastic condition. Need to get it up on the ramps and check thoroughly underneath. Is there anything i should be looking out for?
Chris SApart from oil leaks from the Syncro specific drivetrain, IE front transfer box & rear diff, you need to watch out for all the known 2WD Golf 2 weak points,
To be honest your main problem with any car of this age is rust, keep on top of that & your Syncro is virtually bulletproof!
Getting the box sections Waxoyled might be a good idea.
