thanks guys, beginning to think leaving the clifford alarm in was a bad idea,
i`ve got indicators, high beam light, main lights, the heater fan works on ignition, radio, rear heater and fog lights all work or are showing they work on the dash and clocks, i just have no mileage on the digital read out or mfa showing, im using mk3 clocks, i have crossed E2 to D8 on the ce2 fusebox still nothing, maybe the clocks have dry connections somewhere, not sure, just waiting for a bit of the alarm to turn up, then start again, any one else got any ideas what it could be?
turns out it was the alarm causing the problem, now that been by passed i now have a S4 thottle body working by the pedal and its turning over on the starter

spark and a fuel pump now, this is looking good,[
] few issues before i fire it though, seems like the rats have chewed the rear pipe on the pump and leaking from the rear of the head [

Good on you, I can feel (even from this distance) even more nutterness to follow with the stronger drivetrain!
I hope you are taking notes on this conversion, as it just might be the way to go! [
