Could a machine shop enlarge the mounting recesses on a VC? I wouldn’t try to go from an 18mm to a 25mm, but it looks like there is enough material to go from 22 to 25.
Wow… where’s Chris? Is the guy alright?
Everybody is ok – sorry it wasn’t to be melodramatic… more like crossed wires and frayed nerves leading to “tension”. I think they’re all a little bit syncro’d out for the moment so we might have to look stuff up in etka ourselves for a little while.
god it better only be a little while – I’m halfway through building a car…(allegedly)
Really? I guess I’m not on here often enough to detect any strife. And when I went to log back in awhile back, all my user info was gone… had to re-register, and now I’m downgraded to “newbie” status. Hmmm, guess my donation didn’t go very far…
that’s a bit out of order and do apologise – I’ll have a word with chris, he normally trims the inactive members. As far as I was concerned you were a long-standing member. I did notice that you had “newbie” status but the penny didn’t drop at the time.
Unfortunately I don’t know whether the user status can be restored, but I am looking into consolidating the less active sections of the database and I think that will mean editing the database by hand so I’ll should know more about what’s possible once I’ve been through that.
Bump… anyone done this before? []
leave the vc and attack the doughnut, the lugs do press out, one out about 30 seconds on a lathe and the 25mm lug could be 22mm then press it back in, but there is a possibility that the doughnut may distort a bit so care should be taken when fitting a modified one, the one in mine was a utter sod to locate
Hey, that’s a good idea, I’ll give that a shot! Thanks!
