Like the subject says… And I’m also curious if it came with a locking rear diff?
And, I guess I’m curious what rear diffs with a code of CJM or CJL are off of..?
yes it did come with a VC, both types of diff
I guess what I’m getting at, is this even remotely possible to graft into Mk2 syncro? Assuming a matching angle drive could be fitted to an 02C trans and the diff itself could be fitted to the rear subframe, would it be a plausible route to a truly locking rear diff in a Mk2 syncro..? []
Vagcat shows a VC, can’t discern a locking rear diff though.
What they look like:
similar diff is found on the transport t4 syncro that is definately able to lock on from inside the cab,
but again the VC is the weak point in any power upgrade
Well, I was really looking at it more as a traction upgrade! But I think what with the ratio differences and the T4/Sharan angle drives looking so different from the 02C units, I’ll just stick with the Peloquin I’ve already got… thanks for the help!
In a discussion I had with Marcel(Dutchdub) he told me that these diffs will bolt up to the same mounts as the Haldex rear diff. This means that by using one of his (or dutchbuild’s) kits, you could install one of these in your golf.
The matching angle drive comes from a SEAT 5 speed with AWD. A common part used in haldex swaps when the original 5 speed o2c syncro gearbox is retained. Nutter4x4 has been running one in his haldex swap, but it dosn’t like his power levels![]
Below are some links to images of parts used in the VWMS Rallye. These are same diff, but one has a VC ellimination drive flange.
Here are links to several photos of the T4 diff.
I tried to put photos directly in this post using the “img” command, but for some reason, it won’t work with my jpegstore photos. I suspect that it is because I have used an ampersand(&) in the name of my image folder.
By Sunday I might be able to post some actual photos of the VWMS Rallye rear diff, both with & without VC elimination drive flange, along with other tasty VWMS items, as we are all off to somewhere rather special on Saturday! []
I must not forget to charge the camera batteries [:0]
Ahhh, ok… cool. Maybe I shouldn’t give up so easily! Anyone know a source for the Seat angle drive? That’s a 17:27 ratio, right?
Any other pitfalls I’m not considering?
Thanks Les, that’s good news!
Chris if you could fit a VWMS rear diff in your back pocket for me it would be much appreciated.[]
