So. i’m in the process of restoring my syncro.
and now its time to adress the rear body plate (or valance, clip or what you want to call it).. how ever. its not even CLOSE to fit…
according to ETKA, theres only one plate on the 88 and up models. should not be different between syncro and fwd..
but is it so?
i’ve bought an OEM part. (191 813 301 H) (original oem VW part. usually rare as normal)
is it possible that the sycnro ACUTALLY have a different body part? (i’ll try to add some pics to get clarity to my problem)
the part in question..
there is a lip on the boot floor which is supposed to match up with the plate.. its about 3cm out. and there is NO way to make it fit
the lip on the boot floor
not even close
I *think* I understand what you mean – so where the floor of the boot should join the rear panel which runs under the tail-lights shoud line up on the inside and doesn’t… is that right?
Do you want me to take pics or measurements from my syncro? It’s RHD but I don’t see that making much difference at the back end..

if you have the ability to take some measurements it woululd be great!
thanks
sure thing just let me know what you want measured and I’ll do what I can. The car’s on ramps at the moment so measurements from the underside of the boot will be problematic but from inside the boot should be fine….

i think i’ve figured it out.
the part i have cannot be OEM. the 3 support brackets that goes from the top and down to the floor looks different, and joins the plate a bit further down.
this is totaly fine if you have FWD with 20cm lower boot floor.
so i need to make some modifications, but i should make it work
