sorry chris i wasnt trying to make you repeat everything that has been said before i was just getting more ideas before i spend more money, the bosal site looks good but are there others. are there considerable gains to be had from a sporty type exhaust or are they just a myth.
Actually it wasn’t in the reference forum till I put it there today, the main problem with the RHD Syncro is the downpipe as it is very restrictive,
I would suggest getting a tubular 4/2/1 manifold/downpipe assembly, while it may not produce a vast amount of extra power on its own it will ensure that you get the full benefit of any other mods you may make,
But please please ensure that is has a flexible joint or joints in it as it will fracture very quickly if it doesn’t [] as the Syncro does tend to load the exhaust downpipe far more than a 2wd Golf would
yep gets bloody expensive when you get it wrong
more like find somewhere that’ll make it for you, there is a lhd drive tubular one avalable for about £470 from somewhere but i forget who makes it
Here’s one I bought earlier

To the best of my knowledge Supersprint are the only production manufacturer to have ever made a Syncro specific catback exhaust system, and even then the centrebox won’t fit onto the Rallye system without some mods
Link below shows a complete Rallye system but not sure how much is relevant to the Golf Syncro.
The small print on the rallye system says (yes its Dutch)
Doordat het een echte race- en rallysysteem is moet het motorblokje wel vast te staan (hij mag dus niet bewegen in rubbers ofzo)
Because that this is a real race and rallye system, the motor block must be solidly mounted, it may not be mounted with rubber or similar material mounts,
What it really means is that
Because we are lazy Cheapskates we couldnt be arsed either buying, fitting or even designing in some flexy exhaust sections to cope with any engine movement or vibrations, and anyway even if we did fit some the system would only last longer, and we then couldnt sell you any more nice shiny expensive pieces to replace the cracked, broken and leaky ones that YOU have damaged because you didnt bolt your engine down solid like we said!
I’ve just been having a bit of a hunt for somewhere that would do me a new exhaust for the Jetta and found a couple of places locally that said they could make me one up no problems, even after I explained the differences compared to a standard Jetta and a golf syncro.
http://customperformance.co.uk/ Quoted me £300 for a complete system with choice of back boxes.
http://www.dynoflow.co.uk/ Quoted me £350 for a single exhaust and £400 for twin.
Both of these places came recommended from people in my local VW club as they had made bespoke systems for them before. So ask around for local recommendations mate, you might be pleasantly surprised
I’m prob going to be getting one made by customperformance when I get some spare cash
thanks i will look into it regards
