yeah, being booked in with Resto Shack in Exeter. Stripped to a bare shell (by me in the coming weeks) and sorted to a good standard. followed by 30 years more service hopefully. My daughter is already claiming future ownership!
slowly getting ready to drop it off for paint (using a different place now) Interior out as well as lower dash and heater box. Will get that all replaced while i can.
Oh, if anyone has a westmoreland front end for sale for a sensible price, im listening….
Front subframe built back up. consists of.. New genuine subframe, recon rack, polybush’d the rack and new bolts. New engine mounts, have fitted a hydro mount for the RH side as my mount for the normal bracket was very rusty. So it actually works out cheaper.
been slacking a bit recently π Been on holiday in my other syncro, among other places parked up by a volcano and a 32km kayak through the gorges of Verdon.
The Golf is back on its wheels now and is ready to go off for metalwork and paint! should be taken in, in roughly 2 weeks
Now, if anyone is sitting on a set of genuine G60 front wings, or genuine standard ones, im listening….
stripped down the heater box, replaced all the foam and finished off with a new core. All quite easy bar the new heater core being slightly fatter, so i had to file away a mm or 2 from the housing.
well, not sure if anyone is checking in on this forum.. But the car went for paint last week, a few panels have been bought. Quality of aftermarket stuff is very poor, couldnt live with the front wings. So i have managed to track down and buy a pair of NOS ones. US spec so will need the banana light holes welded up, but thats a small price to pay for wings that fit properly

Well, as long as someone is watching! Replacement ARB arrived. And obviously more importantly the car is stripped at the bodyshop! Buyer beware, aftermarket body panels are shite! get genuine while they are available. Yes maybe the difference in price is high.. Β£30 vs Β£130 for an outer sill, but the difference is plain to see!
And labour costs will show this!.
Hence new genuine front wings and outer sills!

And to be honest I wish I had the time, the money, & the inclination to do the same with my Syncro GT
But I am afraid it is still subject to the court case, & I have had no access to it since 2015 & I have no idea when the court case will be over,

No problem on the cam, thanks for looking. And again, the issues with your car are a shame. hopefully some good comes out of it eventually. I’m quite lucky that i have funds here for this rebuild, although the costs constantly escalate! But thats more down to me being fussy… π
attached are some pics of stuff ive been getting on with while the car is away. Wheels completely stripped and painted/diamond cut, shiny new tyre valves.. Rear bumper bar stripped and painted along with tow bar. Rear diff guard bought brand new from vw, then stripped and painted due to a few scuffs. And bolsters repaired and seats!

havent been able to log on to the forum for a while.. Sorted now though π LD50, i have a cam now thanks, bought a Newman one.
Stuff is happening, lots actually.. Be prepared for a LOT of pictures! Bodywork has been progressing nicely, surprising how much rot can be lurking!
