Hi everyone,
I am a new member been lurking around for a while and i love the golf syncro’s particulary the mk2 golf one.
I have also been looking at the gti engineered mk2 golf and it is amazing (cant believe Re2 owns one)
I have just stumbled upon this (while searching for gti engineering stuff) and i thought some members might like to look at it.
I know it isnt a syncro, thats why it is general chat.

im sure i was chatting to the chap that now owns that very car. He lives in stamford and said he bought the car that was on the 1983 brochure- which is that very car
Hi re2,
Thanks for your reply.
Its good to know that the mk1 golf is running and hasnt been scrapped or taken apart.
Your syncro is very good and thanks for all the gti engineering info. i wonder how may golf syncros gti engineering actually did.
Also where did you get those gti engineering from brochures as there’s not that many that come up on ebay?
Thanks
Marcus
ive been collecting stuff for years now. I beleive there were 1x lhd promo car, and maybe 2-3 rhd cars, but these rhd cars that are known about is only mine. Bill Lorraine who used to work there and later at Premier thought that there were more than 1 rhd syncros converted.
Woah, your syncro must be very very rare then. i thought they might of at least done more than 20 syncro’s.
Do you know what happened to all the parts that Gti engineering did for the golf that are in that gti engineering brochure you scanned like the air conditioning, heated mirrors, floor mats etc as they must of gone somewhere if they had them for sale?
I have just realised that they probably did alot more standard golfs than they did syncros ( i kept thinking that they only did syncros) so some parts probably ended up on some mk2 golfs.
Thanks for your help,
Marcus
theres loads of these extras on cars all over the place. The GTI Eng kits are rare, as are most these days. Have a read through the scanned articles for detailed info. I did find an advert in an old mag for the original syncro once and it was going for ££££££££££
Woah i bet that went for alot then. Its a shame not that much Gti engineering stuff comes up on ebay, i have constantly been checking and nothing really has been listed – probably because all the parts are so bloody rare!!
I dont suppose you have any duplicate gti engineering bochures for the golf mk2?
Thanks
Marcus
