The insurance on my Jetta is due shortly and I was wondering who does good rates for syncro’s as all the ones I’ve tried it works out more expensive than my Scirocco (Group 15 with declared mods). The best I’ve got so far is swiftcover £350ish … I’m over 30 and live in the middle of nowhere.
Thx
Chris
brentacre – vw specialists, been with them for years with all mods declared – they actually offered to give 5% discount to members when I spoke to them about it aaages ago…maybe that’s our first discount?
Insurance is a toughie on the Syncro – it’s got higher insurance grouping than a GTI if I recall correctly….
i found NFU gave me a good price, higher group than gti but they give discounts for 4wd
I’ve just talked to my insurance company (NFU) and they have declined to quote on a LHD Golf Country Chrom Edition[] Although a couple of years ago I asked them to insure an Overfinch 570Ti and they knew exactly what I was talking about and it cost the same as a standard Range Rover[]
Anyway I digress, I shall try Brentacre but does anyone have any other suggestions?
Adrian flux worth a try got a good price on mine from them
you cold try HIC they might be good,
I certainly got good prices on a VR Tubo in a mk2 with them! so a syncro shouldnt be an issue (i hope)
Just don’t think you’ll be insured somewhere like the Nurbugring on HIC insurance – lot of exclusions.
is the vr turbo going in the syncro? and have you had a quote on that beast?
Think you can get insurance that covers you on track days and the ring, probably 1 or 2 a year.
I’m not intending it to be used for track days. It is intended to replace my current Golf2 GL 4+E, which I use everyday, and add some of the versatility (and luxuries) of my Range Rover LSE.
However, I will use it at some of the shows and to play a bit in the mud! I’ve got a quote from HIC and notice that they have ‘additions’ for this, but think my mileage is a bit too high (25000mls / yr).
I just got my renewal notice @ 246 euros for third party + fire + theft for a year, with an agreed valuation of 4500 eu, but unfortunately it does not cover me on the Nurburgring! ho hum
a standard uk spec syncro is insurance group 13.
Hmmmm, You may want to check this out!

I have my Chrome Country on an agreed valuation with HIC. Costs me about £250 but I am an oldie!
