hi folks,

as some of you may know, the Nurburgring trip didn’t exactly go according to plan – two of the attendees, Chris and DiamondHell, have some unresolved disputes which have so far been kept off-site.

I intially tried (unsuccessfully) to mediate but both parties felt they had been wronged and were unwilling to compromise so I figured it needs to run it’s course.

Having just received a message from DH threatening to bring the dispute to the site (flame war), I’ve been forced to take decisive action.

It’s not my place to take sides in the dispute, but having this sort of bickering between our members is unacceptable, and *especially* not from our moderators.

I don’t believe a flame-war will be beneficial to the site either, and in any case I don’t respond well to threats so until this dispute is resolved (off site), BOTH parties (DiamondHell & ChrisS) have been temporarily suspended from the forums.

As most of you know we have quite a thriving secondhand & rare parts trade among our members and we strongly encourage this – that support network is one of the reasons this site exists at all. Over the last 5 years we have had *hundreds* of successful transactions and this is something which I hope will continue.

To the best of my knowlege this is the first time there has been a trade “dispute” and IMHO this is more to do with what happened at the ‘ring than the actual parts transactions since the transactions happened *before* the trip and it’s only now *after* the trip that there’s apparently a problem – in which case it’s more “bickering” than an actual trade dispute and has no place on these forums.

In any case I think this is the only fair course of action until it’s resolved, I apologise for the inconvenience and hope our members understand. Thank you for your patience in the mean time – lets hope they sort it out quickly.

I would like to add my views to those of LD50.

I am in the unique position of being one of the people that went to the Nurburgring, know what went on and what was said, also I consider myself a good friend of Chris.
Regardless of the rights and wrongs relating to the ring trip, both parties had the decency to keep their dispute off site (well this one at least)
Chris was so upset by what occured, his lack of activity on site was an understandable reaction and thankfully the syncro bug bites so deep that he could not stay away for too long.
The disagrement/misunderstanding that occured at the Nurburgring was such that both parties felt wronged and neither was going to appologise to the other.
The subsequent dispute over supply of parts/money not paid is only a continuation of the Nurburgring dispute.

So come on guys, you are never going to be mates…do the right thing, sort out who owes what, send it back or whatever, pay up and spend the rest of your time never talking to each other.

The real shame of all of this, is both parties contributed to the site with advice and supply of parts and any loss will be to the detrement of us all.

With regard to bringing this dispute onto site Diamond hell is well out of order…a private dispute has no place on here, so I agree completely with LD50 to barr DH. what I do not agree with, is barring Chris.

The problem is..if their dispute is never resolved how long do you keep both of them off site?

I know from speaking to Chris on many occations, the last thing he would do was start a war on site, the tempatation was strong but he is determined to keep the dispute and site seperate and rightly so.

Regardless of the eventual outcome, the sad fact is the site will be the poorer for it….a real shame

I hope this gets sorted soon as the site is missing a wealth of knowledge with the absence of these two.

My syncro is now in daily use and running great with its new springs, pb head, weber and golf backbox. None of which would have happened without the advice and parts from various members on this forum. This is a great little community and I sincerely hope it continues in the same vein for a long time.

Funny you should mention it – apparently not, however this has been going on long enough and so it’s time to do something about it.

Technically Chris actually kept this away from the forums and neither kept phoning me at work nor threatened to bring the dispute to the site in the form of a flame-war, both of which TC did do, and which is what actually what triggered the suspension.

What I suggest is that Chris is reinstated with full rights, and we overlook TC’s little outburst based on the fact that like Chris he’s been a long-standing contributor and has also helped many many folks with their syncro problems. TC will be reinstated as a user but has no moderator rights and is on probation. At the first sign of flaming or cross-posting/bitchiness/baiting and this position will be reviewed. Hopefully everyone will play nice and it won’t come to that.

I would also suggest that anyone trading parts confirms with the seller what their policy is on returning items *before* buying. Keep your transactions clear and settle-up promptly.

It’s a good thing that we’ve managed 5 years+ without any major hitches, lets try and make it another 5 without any more .

i’ve tried to keep out of this, but i think a some are been a bit harsh to TC. most of this could and should have been settled quite easaly some time ago.

i do mean in in anyway harsh to TC as i do not know what happened. But i trust ld50s knowledge of what happened and of chris and TC, so he must have come to that decision for a reason

I would say lets focus any latent bitchiness into providing the best information we can to our noobs. If anyone wants to out-do anyone else let it be on that playing field.

I run an online shop and apparently a 7% return rate is “expected” in online sales so managing 5 years’ of flawless transactions is a record no matter how I look at it.

And with that let’s conclude this topic … re2 haven’t you got underbody to be sanding or something?
