Hi
Try spring-loaded for Bilstein suspension as thats wehere i found replacements for my Golf Country. The interior isnt Syncro specific (i think). Coilovers should be syncro specific but if they are cheap, then they wont be. Place some wanted adverts in our classified section as im sure the bits will surface
Looks to be a good project!
The Front suspension is the same as the 2WD only the rear is different,
Sorry but A RHD front downpipe is the one thing that I can’t help you with!
Bit of an update on this…….
Passenger foot well was filling with water and the 3 small rust bubbles along the windscreen scuttle made me wonder how bad it was under the windscreen rubber…….[

At least I knew where the leak was coming from! Someone had gone to the trouble of removing the dash to pot rivot a plate over it and fill it with sealer without removing the screen. A proper bodge!
It turned into a big little job as the bumper, wing, screen , entire dash, roof trim, wiper mech all had to come off to do it properly.
The other half of the scuttle was fine so I replaced what I needed to.
The job took around 20 hours to complete and that was only rough primering and splatting a bit of red back on it. It’ll be getting a full rrepaint at some stage so not too fussed about that at this stage.
A few more pics of the repair in progress…..
its now starting to dry out nicely although I did end up having to replace the screen rubber as the original one I had put back in continued to leak.
Other jobs sorted include the removal of the front coilovers in favour of some standard GTI struts, heater now works, rear wiper now works,
Auto choke sorted.
Jobs to sort:
rear lower valance to replace.
Exhaust downpipe to fabricate or stop the one on it leaking.
Try and find out why the alternator warning light doesn’t work and replace the digital clock in the speedo head.
I’m also looking for a gearbox to rebuild as the one in has a whine and crunches into second. When I got the car the green cap on the end of the box was rotten and I think its been run low on oil at some point.
