There’s a thread on dubforce.net about how to get hold of a Rallye screen from a third party supplier.
I think this is what you want:

Be careful on there – there are scammers among the users.
Are we talking about a bonded in screen here? Or was that the 16V G60 Syncro?
If it is the bonded in window, I am sure that I heard somewhere that the Mk3 Golf used a slightly modified Mk2 shell. If this is true, would a Mk3 screen fit as I believe the Mk3 was a bonded in screen.
However I am probably totally wrong!!!!!
The Rallye windscreen is bonded in yes but the mk3 windscreen is totaly diffrent.
At Diamond hell he dosan’t have any more Rallye windscreens.
Is there of any place in UK that would make me one i have a brand new one but there is a crack down the middle of it at least they have a pattern to work on.

I say follow the advice in the Dubforce thread; that is, contact Autoglass (or whoever it was) and quote the part number that you see given in that thread (I have actually posted the part number myself in that thread). Autoglass will then want something in the order of £500 including fitting, though there is discount for AA membership. Your best bet is to claim through insurance. My personal problem is that I need a new bonded one for my Syncro but it’s a bare shell at the moment without MOT. However, the car does not need MOT to have insurance. So if you’re in a similar situation as myself, you can still get it insured and then claim through the insurance, and have it fitted ready for the MOT.
Trev
Thanks for the advice Trev but i don’t have no MOT or insurance mine is going in to get resprayed £500 for a wind screen thats taking the piss, surley there must be a company in England that will make or do for less than half price?

IT is possible to fit the normal (not bonded)Golf 2 Screen & rubber surround while you are waiting for the correct part to arrive, I know of a Rallye that has had one fitted for years & has not had any problems.
The last time I looked into it was about 3 years ago when slateford needed one & even then it had to come from America, as the American Golf 2 had a bonded in screen as standard.
Hey Chris
I’m in New York so i will go and ask for a normal mk2 gti bonded windscreen do i need to get all the rubbers aswell?
Nas
The bonded in screen doesnt use a mounting rubber as its bonded in, it does however use small spacers to allow the correct fitting depth.
So when comparing a MK2 with a bonded window against a MK2 with a normal unbonded windscreen, is there any difference in the aperture (i.e. the chassis) itself? I need a new windscreen for the G60 Syncro but I think I’ll use a normal windscreen, so long as it fits properly and looks standard.
