Whats the story on the items, Ive had a bit of a barney with my VW parts dealer over Rear Bearings and need to get the full gen if anyone knows. as I dont want to be charged anymore than what Ive paid. £105 and change
I requested 2 rear bearing for a golf Rallye (68mm). The part number I got off VAG for these was 331 598 625A.
Wheel bearings arrive with 331 598 625A on the box but the size is 72mm. Ive just checked the vag site and it says a different number for the 72mm bearing ?????
Are the wrong bearing in the box or are the numbers wrong ?
Cheers in advance
The rear bearings that were in my Rallye were 68mm. The garage only found out when they removed the old ones after ordering the 72mm ones as per ETKA. The 68mm ones are listed as 331 598 625 for car with drum brakes although I’m sure someone on the site with confirm this just in case it’s wrong. My Rallye was 68mm but definitely had disc brakes! 331 598 625A is for the disc brake model on ETKA.
I bought some off eurocarparts, they were £40 a side and were made by FAG (OEM manufacturer).
Rallyes had both 68 & 72mm bearings fitted at the rear, I will post more tomorrow when I am not so tired.
Thanks for the info Chaps,
Andover VW had trouble tracking the 68mm ones down, on back order, so they might now be a week or so before they arrive, I will find out today when they phone. They have said that I can have them for the same price as the larger ones as compensation.
I cant believe the price difference as the VR6 front bearings were £20 a pop. supply and demand I suppose.
