thanks Chris…got that one sorted out..on their way, a bit cheaper than £200 from VW, bead blast and paint and i’m away…A quick question about the calipers, going to buy new from VW but the guy at the dealership said there was 2 availible calipers…one at £89 and one at £95, Do you know of any differences? any advice would be appreciated

I don’t know, what part numbers did he give you?
I have three part numbers now from the guy….seems strange but here goes…i can’t remember if the 1J0 is a zero or an o.
1J0 615 423 LEFT
1J0 615 424 RIGHT EARLY ONES
1JO 615 423G
1JO 615 424H LATER ONES
1J0 615 423B
1J0 615 424B
Any help would be appreciated

For reference, I’ve fitted Golf3 GTI handbrake cables and calipers to my G2 Syncro – works just great.
are the standard mk2 golf cables to short ?
The syncro disc cables are listed at 1600 mm long, the 2WD disc cables are 1625 mm long, so I suppose it just depends where you are measuring from?
so they should, the set i have dont i think the out casing of the cable is too long
That would be greatif they fit!
