Hi Chaps,
I’m half way through my conversion and am fitting mk3 VR6 syncro rear swing arms. I have had them powder coated and I now want to install new bearings. I already have some bearings for the front VR6 hubs which I’m hoping to put into the swing arms. Looking at the measurements, they’re 72mm with a 40mm inner. This is the same as the ones that came out so I assume they’re ok to use in the rear swing arms? I don’t see why they wouldn’t but just checking.
They only came with one circlip each so will have to reuse an old circlip.
Cheers,
Kav
Yes, its the same bearing.
Thanks Chris!
Another quick question…rear ABS ring that goes on the CV. Is this the same ring that would go on a normal mk2 with disc brakes? If so, does it just slip over the CV?
Thanks,
Kav
Just had a look on ETKA – looks like it’s the standard ring used on all models 1J0614149.
Will it fit over the normal syncro driveshaft or was there a different one for ABS?
yes it is the std ring & fits on the normal CV
Thanks Chris – helpful as always! []
Chris, do the rear CVs have to be machined to take the ABS rings? I can’t get the ring to go over the CV – it’s approx 2mm too narrow. I heated it up with a blow torch but couldn’t get it to go over [xx(]
I will look tomorrow for you
Thank you kindly []
Looked at ETKA again & it should fit, I don’t know why it won’t.
any chance of a picture?
Yeah the ABS rings on ETKA show the standard rings that would be used in the rear discs of a mk2, mk3 and mk4 golf. I’m not sure if the CVs were different for syncro models with ABS??
Here are a few pics…
I thought I had a driveshaft with an ABS ring on but they are all non ABS
aaah noooo. Never mind…I’ll make some ‘adjustments’ with an angle grinder. [xx(]
Thanks for looking Chris []
