Relay shaft/rod??

Hi,

I have a 89 G syncro with 1P engine in JPN, and am in need of a relay shaft/rod within the shift linkage, p/n: 191 711 163A.

The VW here told me they do not have any in stock, and apparently VW Germany does not have any either.

The reason I am replacing the rod/shaft is that the ball bushing is totally worn out and the shift linkage part that is at the end of the shift rod is scrubbing against the donut, making it very annoying when shfting to 1st/2nd gear while the car is moving.

Can anyone help me how to substitute it??

Diamond hell and Dannyp will both have one, as they have just swapped their gearboxes to cable change 02C ones.

BTW the part was dropped without replacement by VW on 01/12/2007. []

Does the “discontinued without replacement” mean there is not one single shaft left at any VW dealers throughout the world???

Probably, yes.

I have a pair of complete shift assemblies, both done under 100,000miles. Let me know if you want them.
