looks almost as good as the first exhaust & that was with ‘new’ vinegar
ok wow I didn’t expect that… way to do the build-up xD
that’s actually pretty impressive. I thought vinegar was acidic so would eat away at it or is that that effect, like leaving a penny in coca cola?

yes, vinegar is acetic acid
is that that effect, like leaving a penny in coca cola?
I don’t know but as you can see it works,
on the “new” exhaust I just washed it off with fresh water,
dried it with a hot air gun & painted it with HT exhaust paint,
here is is 1 month or so later
Considering that it was a rusty old thing that had been lying in my shed for the last 10 years,
I don’t think it came out to badly.
I think the ‘pits’ in the other exhaust are where there was deep ‘pitted’ corrosion
yeah actually that result is impressive. I will have to try that on something.
I wonder if they use something similar in the “rust converter” stuff which you’re supposed to paint onto rust to stabilise it before painting? Though tbh the vinegar seems to produce a cleaner finish than rust converter (which normally turns things kinda black).
Very interesting!

I don’t know, but I don’t think I would like to paint over a vinegar residue, it might affect the stickability of the paint
But at 1 euro 50 cents for 5 liters, it is a very cheap de rusting solution
