Hello. After finding out that the syncro that i bought is à peace of rust,
Im converting it to a racecar.
Its à golf 2 syncro with golf 3 syncro gearboxes.
So my friends did help to strip it down, and they cut te solenoid cables and vacuüm lines…..
Now i need to know:
When does the solenoid needs 12v? In reverse only?
The green vacuüm line needs the vacuüm reservoir and manifold vacuüm?
And where is the second vacuüm hose going? Its going under the rear seat,, just vent?
Thx Gr. Berry
No one?
yes the green vacuum line does need the underwing 3 ball res & a one way valved connection to the Manifold,
the second vacuum line is just a breather vent,
shall I send you the rear diff wiring & vacuum diagram?
btw Whereabouts are you in Netherlands? I am in Emmeloord N.O.P.
Thx Chris so far.
Im near venlo.
Would be Great if you can send me the diagram!
Greetings Berry
Chris could you send that vacuum line diagphram for me also as i am looking for air leaks cuz my engine wont run nice.
Which motor do you have GU (Carburettor), GX (K-Jet), or 1P (Digifant 2)?
It was à gx, now à kr.
nr 16 is an air vent & goes into the wiring harness sheathing to prevent any foreign bodies (I.E. muck)from getting in.
The 3 ball res is mounted under the left hand front wing.
nr 4 the non return valve can be connected to any vacuum spigot on the inlet manifold.
This is the layout from the carburettor motor to the bulkhead mounted green ball res (which is then connected to the 3 ball res & rear diff via the non return valve, the green line is the important Syncro one)
Great thx!
Just thought I’d add to this discussion; there doesn’t seem to be a conclusive vacuum layout for a syncro with a weber carb, so below is a rather terrible illustration of how mine is set up at the moment. Happy to update it if I’ve missed anything; vacuum tubes are in green.
Hmm, dont think thats enough.
I did dril a hole between the carbs and the cilinder head.
Just in one tube from cilinder 4.
Its enough for the brakebooster so il use that.
Just the vacuüm from the airfilter is not enough i think.

Edit: did see the picture wrong on my phone.
Its seems to look normal
