It seems I have mistakenly assumed that Syncro rear trailing arms are the same as Rallye only realised when I went to fit 72mm Rallye wheel bearings and they don’t fit, I now know that the Syncro uses 68mm bearings because of the rear drum setup!
Is there a way to convert the Syncro rear arms to allow fitment of rear discs using Rallye hubs (by using alternative bearings or something similar?) or alternatively does anybody know where I can get a pair of Rallye rear trailing arms preferably complete with hubs, caliper carriers etc!??
If it is not possible to convert the Syncro arms I will have a pair for sale! lol just been powder coated in a chrome type finish and are absolutely imaculate! Imagine my disappointment!
The only difference is the size of the bearing, the disc brake assembly will bolt directly on.
Have a look here, []

Just out of interest, I know of at least 1 Rallye with the 68mm bearings, while my first G2 Syncro (a 1988 90bhp Carb version) had the 72mm ones.
Chris…. thanks for that much apreciated, I thought that the 68mm bearings had a smaller inner diameter too which wouldn’t allow the use of the Rallye hubs???
Having read the thread you pointed me to it seems that you have actually done this conversion already and if so that must not be the case???
Yes I have []
Right then so 68mm bearings it is, and my next question is have you any, or do you know of any, of the corresponding hubs for rear dics to go with them!?
Buy ’em off the shelf at most auto factors.
For the drum cars this is the part number: 823407615A
Disc cars, the part is: 357407615 (which is far more common, across loads of the VW range).
Not entirely sure what the difference is, but my car, with rear discs is running on hubs that were being used with drums without issue.
