have you still got the gearbox and rear diff for sale? do you have the propshaft and cable changer also? very interested in these bits as my rod change box is almost stuffed and i don’t see the point of rebuilding it.

i think maybe this has something to do with the new sva testing by the dvla? kit cars are the worst affected, the more oem parts your car has the less likely you are to cross their line. so a golf retro fitted with a g60 engine would be ok as the model came fitted with that engine. put a toyota supra engine and rwd transmission in it and you’d have some explaining to do.. check out practical performance car magazine some of the back issues have articles covering the new legislation.

i read somewhere the old rod change box might not be up to it. is this the case or would swapping the internals of the mk2 gtd rod box sort it do you think?

presumably loads of torque though. also thinking about the mpg in these times. doesn’t sound too complex with the older vag diesels..

i used an easybleed the other day but wasn’t sure if the diff was full or not – it would overflow so it looked full, but then if i left it for a minute it would take more oil. there’s a suspicious whining coming from the back of the car, could my rear diff be knackered? oil seems to have been leaking past the driveshaft flange seals..

thanks for the help. i suppose i’d need the hubs from a mk3 syncro? would the rear hubs fit my mk2 trailing arms? i might just stick with the adaptors for now till i know if i want to keep the wheels. i’m tryin to get a really snug fit in the arches but keep having them rub on full lock.

also does anyone know which anti-roll bar i should put on the front? since i’ve put the new coilovers on it feels more rolly..

i had the same problem with my syncro when i got it. since put kw variant 1 coilovers and it seems to have improved, but i think the bushes are worn as well. might be worth polybushing it..
also can anyone tell me why my front shocks are topping out hard when i go over speed bumps? i’ve got the ride height wound so it’s standard when sat on the ground but that involved putting preload on the springs. is this a bad idea?
