That Engine will physically fit, but will need a lot of new electronics & wiring.

    I would try & stick with option 1 or 2 [:)]

I meant the actual gearbox code not the model code, it will be either DQB, FHB, FMN, followed by 5 or 6 numbers,
it should be stamped on the casing somewhere.

    translation as follows

Offering a 1.8 liter 98PS engine from a Golf2 Syncro. 1990 orig. 91 thousand kilometers. Engine code should be 1P (I will check tomorrow), wherein the motor is probably identical in construction to 2H, probably there are no great differences with the 90hp injectors (please check yourself).

Sell the motor because the car is converted to 1.8T and I have to store no place, the engine looks very good, increase, not oily, … Vehicle was almost moved only in summer and running properly, can be up to 28.12. Sample are driven (at 29.12 he is. Removed). Engine parts (alternator, intake manifold, distributor, ignition coil, etc. is mounted). The servo I need myself, just contact ambiguities.

private sale without any warranty! Check my other auctions! no return, I try honestly to overwrite the goods to the best of my knowledge and belief, at a used item, however, the description can never be complete, so inspect the goods before buying

Only at Pick Up in 71691 Freiberg am Neckar (20 km north of Stuttgart) or purchaser takes care of shipping (plus 15 euros for me because I have to buy pallet and lashing)

The only problem is that I am so far away.

BTW is it a Golf or Passat VR6 Syncro you have?

obviously its not quite as simple as just swapping the shells over, but

at least you will have as good as every part you will need for the conversion [:)]

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Golf_Mk2 Scroll down about 1/2 way

    Volkswagen Golf Country

There was also a version called Golf Country (3,000 cars), designed for light off-road driving. It had more suspension travel, four-wheel drive, bullbars (generally over a single headlight grille), a skid plate for protecting the engine area, and a spare wheel mounted externally on the back.

In Europe, it was offered with the acclaimed 114 bhp (85 kW) 1.8 8v petrol engine. There were also: 160 “Country Allround”; 558 ” Country – Chrompaket” with Chrome bullbars and beige leather interior; and 50 “Country GTI” for VW-staff. The Golf Country was particularly popular in Alpine regions in central Europe.
