Yeah it was the standard RHD GU cast manifold with the toilet bowl opening into the down pipe, held together with 2 C clamps. this then mated up to a powerflow 2″ stainless system. I did the conversion in relatively short time, I basically pulled out the GU engine and dropped in the PG engine with the intention of revisiting the manifold and down pipe at a later date. I even had a LHD g60 syncro manifold and down pipe I was going to try and adapt.
Unfortunately I melted a piston in the G60 as a result of running a smaller pulley and not chipping the ecu to suit the extra boost.- This reply was modified 5 years, 7 months ago by conor.

conorParticipantI actually ran my g60 with the GU manifold and downpipe, it worked fine, but I never had it on a dyno so I couldn’t confirm how much it restricted power!
conorParticipantI messaged him years ago and he said it has the standard exhaust Manifold (RHD 1.8 carb). Not sure what gearbox it is running though.
conorParticipant@LD50, it was using the latest version of chrome on windows 8 64bit.
@Lloydy and @Chris S, thanks for the info guys, I searched for N 90369602 listed in the link above and had trouble finding it for sale.- This reply was modified 5 years, 11 months ago by conor.

conorParticipantNow that you mention it, I had issues posting this topic in google chrome, I’d click submit and it would just reload the new topic page. I tried it again in Internet explorer and then it allowed me to post a new topic!
conorParticipantAwesome thanks for that! Amazing that with such a quiet forum I can still get an answer to a technical questions within a couple hours
conorParticipantBrilliant thanks for the help
conorParticipantThanks so much for the info and the photos, really helpful. It seems like it is a bt involved to dismantle in situ, I’ll just have to remove the whole lot to fix it.
Thanks for the offer of a transfer box but I am going to try and drill out the broken bolt first, and go from there
conorParticipantHi, I never had a 16v g60 manifold , only 8v syncro g60
conorParticipantThanks guy.
Since the last update I have made a few small changes to the car:
I got it NCT’d!
I did a bit of a “dress down”. I went from the half tinted hellas back to regular orange clusters. I changed the foam boot spoiler for the more appropriate colour coded item.
Another thing that was bothering me was the tailpipe. It was for a small bumper car so it stopped well short of the big bumper exhaust cutout. I chopped it off altogether and put a plain round tailpipe out past the bumper. I think it looks more subtle now. I’m sure people will think I’m mad for going from a nice chrome tip to a plain piece of exhaust pipe.
I have made it to two shows and the car is going great.
conorParticipantA lot has happened with this car since my last update.
the g60 melted a piston so I replaced it with an AUQ 1.8t engine from a mk4 golf.
I also did the bodywork and got it resprayed, updating to 90 spec looks in the process.
I got a space in the workshop so I put the car in and started stripping it down for a shot of paint:
There are a few spots of rust and a few small little dings to deal with but apart from that the shell is in great condition.
The car has been stripped down and any rust has been dealt with. The car is being resprayed in the coming days hopefully.
Old rusty wing removed, all good underneath:
New wing on, rubbing down commenced:
The car has now been painted and re-assembled, I went 90 spec with it for a change, I love big bumper Jettas.
What next? I’m not sure, I have developed the car as much I want to really, as far as I am concerned it is done!
conorParticipantDoor handles should be standard mk2 handles, mk3 style handles are a common upgrade, although I prefer the older mk2 “trigger style” release
conorParticipantYeah as housey says everything else is the same. For syncro specific issues you should be able to find the answers here
conorParticipantconorParticipantHi Chris,
Could you post an updated link to the component you found on ebay that works as a replacement?
the current link seems to have changed to another part.I have to replace my propshaft carrier bearing as the rubber has failed.
