hi – sorry was unclear – this is for 16v/KR. I guess that means all the sensors are different?
If it’s that end of the head I’d suspect the wiring to be at fault sicne that’s where the last wiring failure was. So we’re looking at the sensors plugged in the gearbox end of the head not the ones on the oil filter… that’s already progress. Will have a poke around next time it’s light.
Cheers, will report findings…coudl do with it sorted cos I gotta go pick up a door in sheffield at the weekend.
ld50Memberhi Chris
no separate oil pressure readout at the moment, do you know which sensor I’m supposed to be checking? I’d guess the blue or yellow one before the filter. If so I’ve almost certainly got a spare sensor to swap and test.
The motor’s been doing *really* nicely recently snice the new head…it’s nearly perfect…just got the odd daft niggles like this from the age
ld50Memberhey – mental golf!
let’s have some details then
ld50Membertoday I wired up about half of the engine-bay loom. It’s pretty slow going since I don’t really know the order stuff has to go in so there’s lots of laying and then re-laying of cables till it all sits nice and snug.
So far there’s only a couple of broken wires and only one or two plugs i haven’t been able to identify yet. Hot air gun has proven very useful for generally softening the protective casings and getting the loom flexible again without cracking the plastic.
ld50Memberlol xD
actually – though my progress has been glacial, I think I’m only a few bits of hose and some plugging in away from being able to test it on the 16v….
ld50Membersomething many syncro owners aspire to
ld50Membermeasured up fuel hose…also needs some hoses on the fuel-pump itself replacing
ld50Memberfigured out what I need next: fuel hose!
ld50Memberlol
ld50Memberoh my word…
ld50Memberi think the whole global economic meltdown thing has meant a bit less time for people to work on their syncros…
ld50Memberthat sounds like yer best bet sammy – both my 020 boxes will be available once I’ve got my cable shift box in but that’s a way off yet.
ld50MemberFinally I’ve been getting some time to fiddle with the syncro and the sun’s so much nicer than frozen fingers in the snow. The gti needed a new head and a whole bunch of other stuff so I’ve been playing catchup for a while, but finally that’s all back together and running sweet so it’s back to the syncro.
I had some issues routing the new wiring loom and getting all the bulkhead seals in place and no matter what I tried, nothing would sort it. It’s been bugging me for weeks since I can’t really do much more without the seals in place.
Well *finally* I sorted it today and that means I can attach the engine bay wiring. Then I think it’s actually just a fuel-pump away from perhaps running on the KR…*finally* (drum roll please)
ld50MemberLD50 does have one but till the syncro is on cable shift it’s my spare so not for sale as yet…sorry.
people were practically giving them away on here a while back…
