LD50Keymaster
Hopefully… if you’re reading this we’re across on the new server, whcih has twice the ram so should hopefully not do the hanging thing. we’ll see. The emails seem to be getting through, to me at least. is anyone else getting them?

LD50Keymasterso every time I start work on the syncro there’s a major world/life event which knocks me back to zero or makes it impossible again somehow.. so watch out cos I was working on it today!
There’s no pics sadly because 2 mins into sanding my one remaining (semi-working) phone fell into the bucket of water, but i’ve started smoothing the panels for some sort of painting type shenanigans. I dont think I’m going to go for a uniform colour as such, more a sort of matte black ratty thing since that’s more where we are (for now anyway, would like to make nice at some point). Also it means I can do it peacemeal which means it might actually get done. There’s some quite interesting patina in places which i sorta don’t really want to mess with, but the red doors need “blending” a bit better and the sills need protecting.
I think I’m going to try and give the red doors a light coat of black and then ‘weather’ that somewhat. The sill has some cool patterns too which would look great lacquered in but given their location i might actually clean them up and give them a fresh thick coat of electrox and then matt black and include in the weathering process for above.

LD50KeymasterI have some pics of my gti->syncro in-tank pump conversion, but I’ve not been able to locate them yet. I will keep diggin..they gotta be on the network somewhere :-\
It needed both a gti in-tank pump and a syncro nozzle thing, and then the two could be bodged together relatively easily and solidly, though there might be some leeway with that..

LD50KeymasterLD50Keymasterok well that’s between you and your isp/youtube 😉
the embedded bit just points your browser at youtube and comes directly from there. Are you also able to embed videos like that or does it block the embed code?

LD50Keymasterhiya, wow – nice project 😀 that’s gonna be a *pretty* country when it’s done 🙂
re posting video – that’ll be a question of disk space I would imagine more than video not being allowed – I think it would just have to be under 10mb. we already store a lot of pics and in the budget of £0 there isn’t really the room to handle video as well. However I just did a test and I think you can embed youtube videos which can be super high quality and they have LOTS of storage :). I just posted one of my bike videos into a thread here to test:
https://forum.vwsyncro.co.uk/forums/topic/testing-youtube-video-embed/
On youtube I click the “share” icon, then “embed” and it makes some code like [iframe stuff blah blah] which you copy in and hopefully it should work.

LD50KeymasterLD50Keymastersame spot as before – the downpipe flange that I made yonks ago. I tried sealing it with high temp rtv but it makes bubbling sounds like it’s melting and doesn’t look like it seals properly.
There may also be other leaks but that seems like the main culprit. It looked like it was ok for a bit and then…nope. Seems worse than before the rtv too now so yay. The stock manifold was never really going to be a nice solution so perhaps time to move on.
A downpipe made out of off the shelf adapters & pipe with v-bands should be better in a few ways hopefully, and also maybe easier to work on and get into place. we’ll see I guess.
