    The new engine was thankfully in very good condition, and could have probably gone in ‘as is’, but.. new bearings all round, new rings, lifters ect. Injectors rebuilt with bigger nozzles and turbo rebuilt as well, with a couple tweaks.. Also a new dual mass flywheel was used

    i rebored and went to 81.5mm pistons, which roughly puts the cc at 1.9. any bigger and you’d be better off with a AGG block

    hi, got your message. on testing my freewheel lock/vc/4wd these were the pin outs on the relay base.(at least on mine)
    Black = perm live
    Black/blue trace =switch live out to freewheel actuator
    White and green/blue = latching wires from the reverse switch
    using a multimeter will let you know whether the reverse switch on the gearbox works. Another way is select reverse then come out and go to 5th gear, you should hear/feel the relay click.

    i do have a few rear diff, vc set ups. i do have a failed rear actuator sitting here(filled with gearbox oil) where that little lever is fine, you can have that for the cost of posting if you like? take care of the rubber boot, obsolete part…
    VC’s i do have a few, but only one spare 25mm version which i want to keep. i have a couple 22mm versions which can be used if the rubber donut spigots are changed (have a search on here for that) BUT, non of them are tested. no idea if they work

    things are going well with the car, drives real nice and pulls nice considering what it is. It’s back in the paint shop at the moment having some snagging done. it’ll then just be driven for what i hope is many years with no issues (still waiting on the country stickers) as my camper is now off the road as the engine died! The engine will get rebuilt over the next couple months 😀

    GKN propshaft service centres should be able to rebuild them, they have with my T3 syncro. i’d probably just bolt it together with my best guess and see what happens 😀

    Hello! Thank you, I am enjoying using it at the moment and should really update this thread! Will do soon!
    I never found specific country repair manuals in English.. I just made it up/searched on here/asked on Facebook.
    More than happy to help with any questions you have.

    Small updates… chasing a couple niggly leaks.. camshaft seal was an odd one, as that was obviously all new new.. fixed now though. another was from the speedo cable seal to the box, that was fixed.
    Other than that all is good! been getting some miles on it. Oh, one embarrassing thing i should point out is i drove around 70 miles not being that happy with the performance, bit gutless.. that aside i took it to a garage for an alignment and straight away he said its mis-firing. Turns out i forgot to plug one injector in!! Man now it flies!! truly a Gti Country! 😀

    well, it has ventured out.. have done about 40 miles or so. Drives lovely even though i havent done the alignment yet.Driving characteristics have changed slightly with the gti ecu and 268 cam, not much happens below 2200rpm, then its pretty quick for a heavy lump. had a bit of an oil leak, turned out to be the cam oil seal. Had a spare so swapped that over, bit unusual for a new seal to leak, but it happened and it got sorted!
    Took it up to Epsom Downs and took the agreed value pics for the insurance 😀
