Thanks for the replies, anyone running big power out there?
mk21147ParticipantJust fitted these today what a nightmare, when I was removing the first bush I ended up pushing the bush into the front part of the propshaft. Don’t ask how long & what I had to do to get it out of the propshaft. All done now thank god. By the way it states in the VW workshop manual that if the bush is damaged you should replace the whole propshaft?
mk21147ParticipantThanks Chris, it seems every Rallye rack I see is American XTR, I have not come across 061SX yet.
mk21147ParticipantChris, please can you check on another power steering rack part number please. I have been helping a friend do some work on his Rallye & he has the following part number on his rack 192 422 055B XTR USA 22-14 02 OF26A2. It is definitely 192, what do you think?
mk21147ParticipantThanks again Chris. Much appreciated.
Richard
mk21147ParticipantI have bought some propshaft locator bushes from VW. I am going to have a go at fitting them. Has anyone got any advice on how to remove the old ones & fit the new bushes? Do I need to get the propshaft rebalanced after fitting? Any advice appreciated.
Regards Richardmk21147ParticipantYes he was happly with that.
mk21147ParticipantSorry, not great at posting, but its great watching & reading your build
mk21147ParticipantThanks for the help Chris. I may have found another rack. I will let you know.
mk21147ParticipantThanks for that Chris, so it is a Rallye rack then. Is their a way I can check the number off turns off the car? Do you think I will have problems getting it recon-ed? Can I buy the parts myself anywhere? I have emailed a few company’s for prices.
Richard
mk21147ParticipantI have found some other numbers on the rack, & their might be a D at the end of the number. 9E 8AIV USA XTR these were sort of underneath. Any use? Not good news then, I have an early MK2 golf left hand drive rack. Not sure what to do now. The rack did come off a Rallye?
mk21147ParticipantThanks for your help again Chris.
mk21147ParticipantThanks
mk21147ParticipantWould these fit a Rallye prop?
mk21147ParticipantThe car looks great, is it Dans old car? Why are you going haldex when you have the quaife box?
