I have been seriously thinking of turboing mine, got the turbo and manifold and just having a single 2 1/2 downpipe but atm have gone off the idea of 16vt, as I think could have more fun in pushing the car with an NA motor and it’s less likely to go boom. this ones going to be 8 valves for a while yet anyway.
The only way of resolving this issue is to remove the steering column.
If you don’t want to do that then you’ll need to take a big chunk out of the tunnel and weld that back up, AS WELL as cutting off one of the Rallye downpipes and making numerous changes to the route of one of the pipes. Have a look at my 2.0 conversion thread in the tuning and upgrades section.
You need to bear in mind that the spacing of the studs on the downpipe is different on (as far as I can make out) every single engine variant out there.

Manifold wise, a Rallye is not going to adapt to a 16v head, port spacing on 8 & 16v engines are seriously different. Rallye downpipe doesn’t fit that easy ask TC. looking in to having a manifold made myself for the 16v head, give shout if you find anywhere that’ll do one for reasonable money and they can make one for me as well.

Head off, short-block looks fine, no lips on the bores. Should do for the next season anyway
Going to collect the head and flywheel tomorrow.
As it turns out the 2E flywheel is a 215mm one, not the 228mm one. This means a rather more limited availability of clutches for this. Never mind, I should be OK for a season with the existing clutch on the lightened 215mm flywheel.
Sadly that’s too late for us, as my other half is due mid-July!

Anyone got any thoughts on the speedo cable on the Syncro gearbox versus the electronic speedo pickup on the cable-change box? Not essential, but nice to know how fast one is going.

2.0 16v ABF manufold and fuel railif it has somewhere to go will remove it, but i don’t want it sitting around for ages behind the garage biteing chunks out of my legs every time it try get past it like the last one did. if anyone wants it they can have it if they come and cut it out. possoblity of keeping shell till next weekend if theres a definate
